Dissemination of the Disease - It is a soil-borne disease. The resting spores of fungus are hard enough to survive in soil for 6-7 years.

Symptoms

Temporary wilting of affected plant at noon of bright day but looks normal in evening.
Plant appears stunted and yellow. Club like swelling of roots some times mistaken for nematode galls.


Favourable environmental condition for disease
Acidic and poorly drained soil is favourable for pathogen.


Mode of transmission
Transmitted from infected soils.

Plant Protection Measures
  • Destroy all the diseased plants.
  • Do not grow cruciferous crops for 6-7 years.
  • Apply lime to raise the soil pH. Liming also restrict resting spores to germinate.
